A Powerball winner can come from any background, any state (that offers Powerball) and any economic situation! You may be minutes away from being a Powerball winner!  Just keep reading and you will find out how many states are involved in the Powerball frenzy!

There are currently 31 states involved in Powerball as well as the U.S. Virgin islands. Powerball states include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Each state corresponds to the rules laid out in the Powerball guidelines. Though there are several different variations of Powerball and each state chooses which they correspond to, many have gained much from being involved with Powerball on some level.

Some individuals choose to play Powerball solo while others choose to split the cost of a Powerball play and then split the winnings evenly. In one case, eight meat plant workers split the winnings of 365 million dollars thus totaling the largest winning ticket on record. Another case is recorder where a family decided to have a little fun with Powerball and ended up splitting a 340 million dollar jackpot.

Powerball states have found that they must be very careful in the distribution of Powerball tickets. Large unexpected payouts have been known to occur in some cases. In some instances, several people will choose correct numbers and win large sums because of the multiplier option. This causes the prize to be multiplied thus costing the Powerball payouts a large unexpected sum. There are only a couple instance of this happening on record but it has been enough to tighten up the game. The chance for winning a Powerball game is 1 in 35. It use to be better odds but to insure correct and timely payouts, this had to happen. Some criticize this decision but in the long run, it has helped winners and players of the game be more secure in their winnings.
